Basement Finishing in Yorktown Heights, NY

Unfinished basements turned into family rooms, offices, gyms and guest space.

Basement Finishing

The square footage you already own

A finished basement adds real living space without adding onto the house. We frame, insulate, wire, drywall and floor the space, add a bathroom if you want one, and rebuild the stairs so the basement feels like the rest of the home.

Every basement is different. Before we frame anything we look at moisture, ceiling height, ductwork, beams and where the panel and mechanicals sit, then plan the layout around them so nothing important ends up buried behind drywall.

Basements are a big part of what we do. You will see a lot of them in our project photos, from bare concrete and spray foam to the finished room.

A basement finish usually covers

  • Steel or wood stud framing
  • Insulation, including spray foam on foundation walls
  • Wiring, outlets and recessed lighting by licensed electricians
  • Drywall, with soffits built around ducts and beams
  • Luxury vinyl plank, tile or carpet flooring
  • Bathrooms, closets, bars and storage rooms
  • Stair rebuilds with new treads, risers and railings

The process

4 stages of a basement finish

  1. Assess the space

Moisture, height, mechanicals and how you want to use the room.

  2. Frame and rough-in

Walls, soffits and the wiring and plumbing that go inside them.

  3. Close it up

Insulation and drywall, taped and finished smooth.

  4. Floors and finish

Flooring, doors, trim, paint and the stairs.

Local work

Basements in raised ranches, splits and colonials

Around Baldwin Place, Mahopac and Jefferson Valley, plenty of houses still have a basement that never got finished, or a paneled rec room from decades ago that is overdue. Both are good candidates, and the walkout lots common up here make for bright lower levels.

We are based in Yorktown Heights and take basement finishing jobs in these towns and across Westchester and Putnam County.

FAQ

Basement Finishing questions

What about moisture?

We check for it first. If there are signs of water, we talk through what has to be handled before anything gets closed up.

Can you add a bathroom downstairs?

Yes. Basement bathrooms are a common addition, with a licensed plumber running the drains and supply lines.

How long does a basement take?

Size and scope drive the schedule. You get a timeline with your estimate.
